Why this phrase

“God is love” comes from the First Letter of John (4:8 and 4:16), one of the shortest and most quoted lines in the New Testament. It doesn’t say God is loving, as if love were one quality among many; it says love is the very nature of the sacred. And it follows with a practical point: whoever lives in love lives in God.

That’s why we painted it as an open hand rather than a pointing finger. The hand isn’t grabbing the heart, it is offering or receiving it, and the reflection in the water doubles everything, as if love given comes back to you.
